The largest U.S. supermarket chain Walmart plans to create its own cryptocurrency and a collection of unique NFT-tokens.
According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Walmart filed for new trademarks late last year, where the company said in a separate item that it would offer users virtual currency as well as NFTs.
Josh Gerben, a lawyer, believes that ever since Facebook announced its name change to Meta, signaling its ambitions beyond social media, businesses have been rushing to figure out how they will fit into the new virtual world.
Earlier it became known that PayPal is working on options to create its own cryptocurrency. In this case, the “coin” of the company will be secured by the U.S. dollar.
